Maintenance Training Supervisor

Scope of Job:
Supports the Operations & Maintenance Compliance Manager to ensure operational compliance to all policies and procedures in place from all governing bodies, from Merlin Entertainments to the State of California, by providing training on resort programs and procedures for every day work. This position also includes being highly involved in hands-on training of department personnel to include development of key individuals to assist in the training.

Key Objectives:
Responsible for the creation, management and implementation of training requirements for the maintenance department, for Rides and Facilities, for resort operational programs and procedures. Assists in monitoring training compliance as it is required by all Merlin and State of California requirements. Manages consistent operations between operational and maintenance departments and assist in creating policies and programs to support compliance operations. Regularly provides reporting to operations showing trends in audits and other safety measures.

Main Responsibilities:

1. Operations
* Responsible for completing requirements and tasks specific to maintenance and facilities given from DIR/DOSH, Merlin Annual Health and Safety Audit and other Merlin Safety literature
* Assists in establishing programs and procedures for special operations with mechanical equipment and facilities work
* Audits the operational procedures of each department to ensure compliance to resort and legal requirements and provide training as needed for gaps identified
* Creates training programs for standardized operational procedures for daily inspections, operating procedures and documentation
* Partners with each department to create training programs and resources to ensure compliance with regulations.
* Participates, as applicable, during third party audits and other resort compliance
* Maintains a working relationship with the resort, Merlin and industry parks to coordinate best and consistent practices
* Facilitate training to individuals and/or larger audiences providing clear and precise information.
* Audit and assess individuals following training to measure understanding and capability.
* Periodically accompany maintenance technicians during inspections to recheck their methods, techniques and procedures and ensuring that their qualifications are current and complete.

2. Marketing
* Provides data when requested.

3. Financial
* Responsible for working within the department budget

4. Development
* Assists the Maintenance and Facilities department with safety classes and courses

5. People
Coordinates communication of new safety standards and training opportunities

6. Health & Safety:
The Maintenance Training Supervisor is responsible for all aspects of Health, Safety & Security within their team, in line with the Group Policy (HS001). In particular, they must ensure that risk assessments have been carried out, that safe working procedures are in place for all work activities and that all employees in their teams are aware of the Group Health, Safety and Security Policy and their obligations under it. They must ensure that safe working practices are monitored and that risk assessments and procedures are reviewed regularly. Where incidents do occur, they must ensure that they are investigated appropriately and that where necessary, corrective action is taken to ensure that such incidents are not repeated.

Background and Experience:
A minimum of two years maintenance experience in a mechanical field preferred. Supervisor experience preferred. Experience creating training material and facilitating training on technical procedures required. Ability to read and evaluate reports, correspondence and use basic math. Ability to maintain a friendly, polite demeanor. Requires the ability to observe and remember details, and to effectively follow and give directions. Requires effective decision-making skills. Computer literacy required.

Education / Experience:
* High school diploma or general education degree equivalent is required.

Physical Demands:
* Willingness to work all hours, rotating schedules to include weekends and holidays.
* Maintain physical condition with no restrictions on lifting, bending or respiratory actions.
* Ability to sit, stand and walk for long periods of time.
* Ability to climb to high places and perform work and inspection in difficult locations.
* Hear with surrounding distracting noises.

Work Environment:
* Various inside and outside locations with varying temperatures and floor surfaces.
* Exposed to wet and/or humid conditions and moving mechanical parts.

Other Requirements:
Must be willing to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends to support park operations.
