Shouts of “Get the Crystal!” might soon be ringing through the streets of London. Rumours are circulating that a 1990s game show – featuring a labyrinth, a huge dome, an eccentric bald host and his “mumsy” – is going to be brought back in the form of an immersive attraction experience.

The Crystal Maze, which ran from 1990 to 1995, developed a huge cult following thanks to its quirky concept and wide variety of gripping challenges.
The idea might have come off the back of
an article in the Guardian in February . In a story about the TV show’s 25th anniversary, it called for a reboot of the concept as an immersive escape game, a “Crystal Maze 2.0”.
“Live-action ‘escape games’ where participants have to solve a series of cryptic clues to get out of a locked room … are currently all the rage in the UK and beyond,” it said. “It feels like there’s still a public appetite for this kind of immersive experience.”
